Fiddle...

Màiri took up the fiddle when she was 10, a little later than most of her peers but her claim is to have never gone through “that squeaky stage” which most parents dread! Her first tune was Mrs Macleod of Raasay, how appropriate! After years of playing in her music school’s folk group The Blue Nova Sisters who released an album entitled “Here’s a story I was told” in 2004. Her fiddle then went into “hiding” for a few years while she studied Harp at music college until she started teaching strings in primary schools as part of her teacher training placements. As part of Jacob’s Pillow now her fiddle is a definite feature of her musical development.

Adjudicating...

Màiri has been adjudicating at the Local Mod’s over the last few years - Edinburgh, Stirling, Oban & Glasgow - and for the first time last year was adjudicating both Music and Gàidhlig at the Royal National Mod in Caithness. She will be adjudicating again at this year’s National Mod in Lewis.

Radio Interviews...

Màiri contributes towards Gàidhlig debates/reviews etc on BBC Radio Nan Gàidheal. Her contribution as a Gàidhlig speaking musician gives her a unique ‘flavour’ and she is very passionate about keeping Gàidhlig alive within Scotland and throughout the world.
